Invisible Rail Series
I just wanted to offer a quick update on a project that I’m working to get off the ground. Over the last few months, I’ve been doing Facebook Live concerts under the heading Invisible Rail Series. In time, once I build up a bit of a following, I’d like to expand the roster of performers beyond myself. That probably won’t begin until the fall, but if that’s of interest to you, shoot me an email. I’ll probably want to stick to quieter music for the time being, but I’m open to ideas.
I’ll be doing a streaming concert tomorrow (March 8), at 11am PST / 2pm EST / 7pm GMT if you want to check it out. The program will be:
- Eva-Maria Houben – lines
- Michael Jon Fink – Two Pieces for Piano Solo (1983)
- Anastassis Philippakopoulos – 4 piano pieces
Concerning the series’s name, I really like the imagery of an “Invisible Rail,” but it is worthwhile to note that it is also a kind of bird (and yes, I stole the idea from Bowerbird). As described on its wikipedia page, “The difficulty of seeing this shy bird in its dense habitat means that information on its behaviour is limited.” Needless to say, that’s an appealing thought.
Here is a video of my last performance, which was of Ryan Keebaugh’s be still. Enjoy!
